Build your own igloo in the Swiss mountains and celebrate the topping-out ceremony in the snow.

Igloo building in teamwork

To build an igloo, you do not have to travel as far as Greenland. In the most beautiful regions of the Swiss mountains you can find out what is important when building an igloo. In teams of 8 to 10 people you will build an igloo under expert guidance with ice saws and shovels. First of all you need a stable foundation. Then the snow house grows block by block until the last block can be put into the hole at the top.
Many questions arise during the construction: How do the walls have to be inclined so that the structure doesn't collapse? At what height should the entrance be so that the heat inside does not escape to the outside? Your competent advisor will tell you everything you need to know about building an igloo.

Erecting and strengthening

After about 3 hours your house made of snow is ready for occupation. Now it is time for the topping-out ceremony and you can toast the dwelling with mulled wine, punch or hot tea. Building an igloo also makes you hungry. If you wish, you can be spoiled with a fondue right on the spot. You can also hike on snowshoes to a mountain hut and enjoy a wholesome meal in a cosy environment.

Winter Olympics and other additional activities

An igloo building can be combined with many other activities depending on the region. For example, a winter Olympics, a snowshoe or airboard tour, or a sleigh ride to a cosy mountain hut where you can enjoy a fondue, and perhaps a dip in the hot pot before... A torchlight walk down into the valley could round off your day.
