Forging in a historical centre
In Bern you will find one of the most beautiful Schmitten in Switzerland. In this historically significant site, people still work with the classic Essefeuer. Where horses are usually shod, you can forge your personal fondue skewer or other gadget under the guidance of a trained blacksmith. Let yourself be initiated into this archaic craft and learn interesting facts about the high art of blacksmithing.
From hot iron to utensil
The smith demonstrates how the iron is heated in the forge until it becomes red-hot and thus malleable. Then the hammer is used: the glowing iron is shaped on the anvil by targeted hammer blows.
Become the smith of your own fortune and make your own personal fondue or barbecue skewer. Also possible are a letter or bottle opener, a horseshoe or a lucky nail.
Mulled wine aperitif and fondue party
After the forging, a fondue bar with wonderfully fragrant cheese fondue awaits you outdoors in the forging area or in our wonderful, green paddock (shelter in bad weather).

Additional activities for large groups
For groups of more than 10 people, the group must be divided. Book additional activities for forging so that the waiting time of the individual participants does not become too long. The following options are available:
- carriage ride
- stories around the horse
- guided tour through the historical harness and carriage collection of the former EMPFA
- Vaulting demonstration
- Fun-Stafette with hobby horse
- horseshoe throwing
- approaching the horse
