Bring more light into the world together
At this event, you and your team do something good, both socially and environmentally: you build a solar lamp that is given to children in countries such as India, Cambodia, Vanuatu, the Dominican Republic, Tanzania or Papua New Guinea. A small gesture, but one that is urgently needed, as a shocking number of people live in energy poverty and have no access to safe and reliable sources of light. By building the solar lamp, you are personally helping to achieve the UN's sustainable development goals in the areas of education and clean energy.
This is how the event works
Before you start installing the lamp, you will receive an informative presentation on energy poverty and its devastating effects in disadvantaged communities. Then get to work. The solar-powered lamp has a unique design specially adapted for children. Once completed, you will write a personalized letter that will be delivered with the device to one of the countries suffering from energy poverty and given to the children in need via local NGO partners. Look forward to an instructive event with an extremely positive effect, also on the cohesion of your team! The workshop is ideal as a stand-alone program or can be seamlessly integrated into full-day conferences or seminars.
Background information
Behind the project is SolarBuddy, an Australian-based charity that has given away hundreds of thousands of solar lamps worldwide since 2016 and brightened the lives of almost one million people in 19 different countries. Thanks to a single solar lamp, a family can save 80% of their weekly expenditure on kerosene. Not only does this improve their financial situation, the family is also much less exposed to the harmful fumes of kerosene. In particular, the solar lamp enables the family's children to study for longer, improving their level of education and their chances on the job market later on.
