In the Bödmerenwald
Do you know the Bödmerenwald? On the excursion through the Muotathal you will discover a unique natural paradise: one of the most beautiful mountain forests in Europe. The Fichtenurwald is located in the lower part of the Silberen-Twärenen karst area. Slender columnar firs with olive-coloured lichen beards cover the fissured rock with green. In the higher part of the forest, the firs stand far apart, leaving room for willows and cart humps.
The guided hike
When hiking in the company of a local guide you will experience and feel the forest up close. You will learn about its origin and history as well as its fauna and flora. The trail takes you through the various phases of vegetation after the retreat of the glaciers. You will hike past the naked high mountain karst, pioneer plants such as willows and pines and through the dense, subalpine spruce forest. Enjoy with your guests a fantastic excursion through the original nature.
Equipment and catering
Hiking or trekking shoes are best suited for the jungle excursion. Also take sun, wind and weather protection with you and possibly a small rucksack with drinks for in between. Would you like to end the hike comfortably? Why not enjoy a fine meal in a Muotathal guesthouse, combined with a presentation by a real Muotathal weather expert.
