Wine in the Emmental? It’s a reality—visit the vineyard in Burgdorf and learn more about Burgdorf wine.

Grapes from the Emmental

When people think of Swiss wines, they tend to mention wines from Valais, French-speaking Switzerland, and the Three-Lakes Region. But grapes are also grown in the Emmental. On a guided tour of the Burgdorf vineyards, you’ll learn lots of interesting facts and then taste the wines right there on the premises.

The Vineyard

Located on the outskirts of town, the vineyard covers an area of approximately 5,000 square meters, half of which is planted with grapevines. The rest is dedicated to biodiversity and serves as an ecological compensation area.

About 1,600 vines thrive there—940 of red grape varieties and 660 of white grape varieties. These are fungus-resistant grape varieties that are well-suited for organic cultivation. The red variety is called “Divico,” while the two varieties “Solaris” and “Muscaris” are used to produce white wine.

The Tasting

You’ll not only see but also taste the Burgdorf wines. After the tour, you’ll sample the Burgdorf Solaris and the Burgdorf Divico. The price includes savory snacks (e.g., grissini). Upon request, an appetizer platter with cheese, cold cuts, and bread will be served. Spring water will also be provided. You’ll wrap up the event together as you relax and socialize.
