From bagpipes to whisky
For over 500 years, the Scots have been competing in a sporting event: the Highland Games. Originally held to determine the strongest warrior, today the Highland Games are peaceful folk festivals for the whole family and for companies who want to experience something fun.
At the Scottish Games, participants compete in six of the following disciplines in true Scottish style:
- Cabertossing (tree trunk throwing)
- Sheaf Toss (throwing up a sack of straw)
- Tug of War (rope pulling)
- Golfing (mini golf)
- Poem Writing (writing a poem)
- Wood Cutting (sawing a tree trunk)
- Haggis Catching (team sport from Scotland)
- Gambeling (game of chance)
This is primarily about having fun and not about sporting ambitions.
