Interactive workshop on Switzerland's energy future

The federal government wants to achieve "net zero" by 2050: No more greenhouse gases are to be emitted than can be reabsorbed through natural and technical storage. Technically and financially, this is possible in principle, but there are questions associated with it:

• How does the switch from fossil to renewable energy succeed?
  
• What measures are needed?
  
• How much influence does our individual behavior have?
  
• What does life with "net zero" actually look like?

The interactive workshop on Switzerland's energy future revolves around these and other questions. It is modular in design: The basis is a game in combination with various experience stations. After consultation, you can set your own thematic priorities.

The strategy game

Take the perspective of the Federal Council and transform the Swiss energy supply over three game rounds towards climate neutrality (one game round corresponds to ten years each). In doing so, you have to replace the symbolic oil barrels with renewable energy sources. Individual behavioral measures also help to reduce energy consumption. Will you and your team manage to reach the federal government's climate target?

The experience stations

Between the rounds of games, experience stations await you at which energy can be grasped and experienced in various forms. Based on the "aha" effects and insights that arise here, you will discuss what each and every individual can contribute to achieving the energy goal in their private lives as well as in their everyday professional lives. Possible experience stations:

• Hot water crank: How much time (and effort) does it take to heat a cup of water with your own physical strength?
  
• Measuring station on electricity consumption: which household appliances consume the most energy? Where can we save electricity in our daily lives and operations?
  
• Solar rope pulling: How much power does the sun have?

• Sustainable nutrition.
  What is "gray energy" and how much of it is in our food? Discover the environmental footprint of products in the supermarket.
  
  
• Mobility
  Embark on a journey through space and time. How do we move around today? How will we cover our distances tomorrow?

  What options for action do we have when it comes to building and living? What measures have what effect and what impact?

  The game "Tragedy of the Commons" is a social experiment on the question of how to deal with commonly available goods fairly and sustainably.
